Impaired Driver Arrested In Abbotsford After Crash With Kids In Vehicle

Swift News

An impaired driver was arrested in Abbotsford last week with his four children in the vehicle after allegedly crashing into two vehicles in Langley and fleeing the scene.  None of the children were injured, police said.  According to a social media post from the Abbotsford Police Department on Thursday (Feb. 19), the 27-year-old man now faces criminal charges in relation to the incident.

Police said a suspected impaired driver who struck two vehicles in Langley was reported on Feb. 12 just after 4:30 p.m.  The driver fled the scene and headed towards Abbotsford, police said. Reports followed of the same vehicle driving erratically in the Bradner Road area north of Downes Road.  Officers found the vehicle on Highway 11 at roughly 6 p.m. The driver was arrested after providing a breath sample reading two and a half times the legal limit.

“What makes this incident especially gut wrenching is that the driver had his four children in the vehicle at the time while impaired by alcohol,” police said.  In 2026, APD said the department has removed 145 impaired drivers from the road in Abbotsford.
